Sophie Leiton Toomey     actor I singer I writer I director

why hello there!

My name is Sophie Leiton Toomey, and thank you for stopping by my website! The place where ALL the magic happens. I’m currently a student at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University studying to obtain my BFA in Drama with a double minor in producing in Business Entertainment, Media and Technology and Producing.

My natural state of being includes a warm smile, trying to find the best sushi place in NYC, destroying my friends at Mario Kart, and singing showtunes very loudly at a very unreasonable time of night (sorry mom and dad).

During my time at NYU, I have had the immense honor to have  studied at the PLAYWRIGHTS HORIZONS THEATRE SCHOOL, THE LEE STRASBERG INSTITUTE, THE CLASSICAL STUDIO, and finally at STONESTREET STUDIOS

As an actor,  I was most recently seen in "JULIUS CAESAR" for the Classical Studio, "MISTERO BUFFO" by Dario Fo in my Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute Debut, "THE TEMPEST" for NYU ‘s Shakespeare in the Square, "BACK WHEN WE FELT CLEAN" and "OUR PLACE IN THE DAYLIGHT"  for NYU’s Playwrights Horizons Zoom Play Festival, and the micromovies "BECKY NEEDS TO STOP" and "DEAR ARNOLD" at Stonestreet Studios.

During the pandemic, I spent my time conceptualizing, directing and casting my passion project of "PRINCESS HAMLET", a gender-bent and modern adaptation of Hamlet set in the Hamptons, New York with an emphasis on love and the dangers of isolation in a mental health crisis. I’ve also written and am in the process of developing my mini-series " THE SPARE BRIDESMAID" after its first premiere at Stonestreet Studios. The clip from the first draft is currently available on Stonestreet’s Facebook page with over 1200 views, one of the most popular micromovies they had in 2020.

Have courage, be kind and never be afraid to take a leap of faith to achieve your dreams. If you do all of that, the rest will always follow.

Enjoy your time here!
